Roots, knotweed and your drains
Japanese knotweed does not force intact pipework apart, but its rhizome readily exploits joints and defects that are already open — and a defective drain is a reliable water source that keeps a stand vigorous. Surveying the drainage alongside the weed treatment tells you which problem is actually driving the other.
What a drain survey costs
A standard domestic pre-purchase CCTV survey is typically £180–£350 including the report and video. Jetting call-outs generally start around £120. No-dig patch repairs usually run £400–£900 per patch, with full relining priced per metre after survey.
